Hi Jed. My name is Jed Oliver and I'm a rather successful Electronics salesman in Northern California. My folks named me Jedidiah after a character in a detective show in the late 70's (his name was J.D. but the main character called him Jedidiah). I love my (until now) rather unique name. I liked it so much I even bestowed it upon my son (Aaron Jedidiah) I must say that the best thing about having such a unique name is most people's complete inability to pronounce it correctly(Judd, Jeb, Jeff, jedd-idd-id-eee-uhh??) It's a great way to tip me off if there's a telemarketer calling me at night (Hello, is meester Jeb-- jud -jedd-eee-dee-dee-duh ahl-lee-ver there?) My least favorite thing about being named Jed is the overabundance of words that rhyme with 'Jed'. That made it rather annoyingly easy to be teased as a kid: ex.: Hey, Dead-Head-Jed better get your Red Head back in bed 'cause you've bled and are under-fed and you might be dead, Right-said-Jed) My favorite historical character was Jedediah Smith, A pioneer of the area I live in (one local recreation area is named after him). My favorite Biblical character is Solomon (who was named Jedidiah by the prophet Nathan)[being for the sake of God]) G'day folks! Jed Oliver
