My full first name is Jed, although the inspiration came from
Jedediah
Smith Redwoods.
Ribbing I have received, all.
Most numerous was being called Jethro, even though that is a
different
name entirely, but what do you expect from those type of people?
I was born in 1961, so was quite young when "The Show" came out.
I too am in to home brewing. However, because I am also a meistertrinker I was working too hard to keep both my fridges filled. We moved to a smaller place and my kererater had to go, and my brewing equipment as well. I have a vast collection of glasses, mugs, bottles (the "shrine" is being cared for at a friend's house), and other beer stuff. Largest mug, 8.5 liters. It was actually used one fateful night in Germany at a fest the night I won it, but that is a night best forgotten by all (like we have a choice). I was last stationed in Darmstadt 3 miles from the world's largest selection of beer, 1,450 different kinds. Heck, they even had a rock and roll beer from St. Louis, MO. I no longer actively brew, but try to keep up with the better brews, Etna Brewing Co being a favorite.
I have met only two others Jeds. One was an Army dentist named Jed
Anderson, the other has a phone sex business. One of the other
Jeds
(at
jed.com) mentioned how strange it is to be in a room with two Jeds,
and
someone says "Jed", you automatically think they are talking to you.
Mikes, Joes, and Bills filter out their name being called under many
instances.
September is coming up soon, and that means "Jammin' at Jed" in the
Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. A day of numerous bands and lots
of
fun and camping too. Last year it was late in Sep 20th, a Saturday,
and
half a dozen bands. Is there interest in a jedfest?
