Hello,
My name is Jed also, except it's my real name - supposedly the name Jed was the only thing my parents ever agreed on.  It's not short for anything, it's just Jed.  That's what it says on the birth certificate.  I was born around the time of the first Star Wars, but I don't think that had anything to do with it.

I am a college student at Georgia Tech.
I am studying EE/CompE - Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Yes, I have heard the Beverly Hillbillies theme song probably a million times by a million different people.  That's usually how I get someone to understand my name - My name is Jed, like "Jed Clampett" - then I get an "oh, o.k. ......." and I hear the song again.  You know how it is.  I haven't ever met anyone with the name Jed before (in person).
